In our first year of marriage my husband Isaias and I have started many Saturday mornings in our kitchen, enjoying the classic tradition of a homemade breakfast. Although I take on most of the cooking responsibilities in the home, Isaias has the creative touch when it comes to culinary arts! He loves combining seemingly random flavors into pleasantly delicious dishes, and specializes in meats and…it appears pancakes! This one pancake in particular was dessert-like and unique, all because we recently purchased orange flavored milk!
Now it may be difficult for everyone reading to find orange creamsicle milk, but you could probably substitute it with any flavored milk (strawberry, chocolate – our local market even has rootbeer flavored!) for your desired pancake.
Here’s the simple recipe! Makes about 8 servings.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 cups flour
- 3.5 baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tb sugar
- 1.25 cups orange milk (or milk of your choice; do all flavored or mix it with plain milk)
- 1 egg
- 3 tb melted butter
- Optional add-ins: Chocolate chips, coconut flakes, cinnamon
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together well. Pour about 1/4 cup of mix for each pancake onto medium-temp griddle and cook on both sides.
Tips:
We suggest making smaller pancakes for proper cooking since they can be a little dense! ENJOY!
