Cultivating humility draws us closer to Him. By cherishing His supreme role in our lives, we learn more and more about His grace, depend deeper on His promises, and find endless reasons to glorify Him.
Without Christ, we can find ourselves in a prison. Not the one with bars and chains, but one that traps our heart behind walls of anxiety, confusion, pride, and idolatry. This prison is never more real than when we try to please others or ourselves, rather than the wonderful God who created us.
Abram was on the top of the world. He and his men had swiftly and impressively defeated a band of kings. Lot, Abram’s nephew, was now safe and sound, rescued from a dismal fate. An Old Testament reflection of Christ, the Priest-King known as Melchizedek, even bestows on Abram an incredible blessing. What he did next showed incredible faith.
